Running an Effective Laboratory Session is a checklist reviewing the responsibilities for conducting laboratory sessions. The suggestions provided are: prepare in advance, check equipment and supplies, clarify objectives, reporting and grading, conducting and concluding the class.

Cooperative Learning in Technical Courses discusses the benefits of team-based learning in chemical engineering courses. Elements of cooperative learning are described along with suggestions for in-class exercises and group work. Many of the suggestions can be adapted to laboratory settings.

Task-Based Activities: Making the Language Laboratory Interactive examines the potential of communicative approaches to language instruction and the interactive learning capabilities of laboratory sessions. Characteristics and roles of task-based activities are discussed. Lab session ideas are described such as, "Murder in the Lab".

Teaching Science Through Inquiry examines the features of inquiry-oriented science instruction. The benefits of engaging students in collecting and interpreting information in response to their own curiosities are presented. The use of activities and laboratory work in science instruction are encouraged.
