This semester's theme:

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

In order to provide sustained, rich learning opportunities for faculty and teaching staff, TSS has adopted a thematic approach to programming. While we still offer some regular learning technology and pedagogical workshops as needs arise, we have crafted many of our offerings around two topics per year (with residual themes and emergent themes in mind).

You may recall that in 2002-2003 some workshops focused on Academic Integrity. This is an issue that far from going away is gaining momentum, and many of our resources will continue to support this theme.

In 2003-2004, our themes were Teaching More Students and Critical Reflection in Teaching and Learning. In 2004, we looked at Assessment as Learning. This semester we focus on Scholarship of Teaching.

Each theme carries with it a number of brief and more in-depth workshops. An innovation this year is the creation of faculty-driven “learning communities” in which faculty agree to meet at least monthly to learn more about a given theme. The members of the learning community set their own agenda and learning outcomes, and TSS becomes a resource link for each group.

If you have any questions after visiting the websites for each TSS Theme, contact Peter Wolf at 52468.
