Mission Statement, University of Guelph June 1995

During your time as a TA you will most likely be given responsibility for a laboratory, studio, or seminar section. This teaching responsibility can be invigorating as it allows you the opportunity to interact closely with your students and to have a direct impact on their learning. You may be involved with class preparation, facilitating group work and class discussions, facilitating on-line discussions, and/or dealing with difficult students. While rewarding, being responsible for a weekly lab, studio, or seminar can become a very time-intensive and sometimes overwhelming task. To help you manage this task effectively we have identified several key activities, teaching techniques, and issues for you to keep in mind.
