One Stop Shop - Classroom Support

Who assigns classroom space?

Centrally serviced classrooms are assigned by Scheduling, Office of Registrarial Services for credit courses with assistance from your departmental administrator.  Multimedia requirements can be taken into consideration.

For non academic reservations, contact the Scheduling and Reservations Clerk, Ext. 53015.

What classrooms are available for reservation?

The following is a list of classrooms available for reservation:

These two tables provide information on

  • building name
  • room number
  • room/seating type
  • number of seats.

What technology is permanently installed in classrooms?

Call Ext. 52778 to find out what presentation technology is available in centrally serviced classrooms. Some classrooms are equipped with full digital multimedia technology that is password protected. Other classrooms have an overhead, slide projector and screen.

How to access installed classroom technology

A password is needed to access multimedia technology that is integrated through a touch panel.  All users must be authorized by their departmental administrator and trained by CTS AV Specialists. AV cabinets and drawers automatically unlock when the password is entered.

Ask your departmental administrator to email cts@uoguelph.ca if you have not been authorized to use equipment.

What classroom and equipment instruction is available?

Classroom specific orientations are offered prior to the fall semester. Check the online listing of TSS Workshops or ask your departmental administrator for details.

You may also request hands-on classroom instruction from one of our certified AV Specialists. The first session of classroom training is no charge. Subsequent sessions are chargeable at the applicable labour rate. CTS Labour Rates

If you are unable to attend one of the classroom orientations sessions please:

  • reserve your assigned classroom for a half hour with Scheduling by calling ext. 53015
  • reserve a half hour with a CTS AV Specialist (2 working days notice required) by calling ext. 52778

Avoid disappointment by planning ahead. Classrooms and staff may not always be available during the week before classes commence.

How to schedule an AV Specialist

Call Ext.52778 to schedule an AV Specialist at the applicable hourly labour rate. Two (2) working days notification is required.

How to report problems in classrooms

Classroom equipment is inspected by AV Specialists on a monthly basis. Chalk is replenished once a week.

Faculty can help by reporting any problems in their classrooms to Ext. 52778.

Problems include:

  • broken/damaged/missing equipment, Desire2Learns, furniture etc.,
  • burnt out lamps for projection equipment. (all overheads have backup lamps installed),
  • no backup lamps for slide and film projectors (found in A/V closets),
  • no chalk or chalkboard erasers
  • burnt out ceiling lights, temperature control
