Starting in September, Teaching Support Services (TSS) and the Office of Open Learning (OOL) and Teaching Support Services (TSS), have merged into the Centre for Open Learning and Educational Support.

The University of Guelph will bring back its popular first-year seminars program in the fall.
The program — suspended two years ago because of inadequate funding — will return with support from a number of donors, including major gifts from the U of G Alumni Association and from Tye Burt, vice-chair of the Board of Governors and chair of the University’s Better Planet fundraising campaign.
Prof. Jeji Varghese, Sociology and Anthropology, has been awarded the first-ever grant from the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) Fund, administered by the AVPA's office and directly supported by TSS/COLES.
Ann Wilson & Don Bruce of the College of Arts, Mark Fortier, School of English and Theatre Studies and TSS submitted a SUCCESSFUL proposal for LEF Funding of a new initiative.
Biomedical sciences professor Bettina Kalisch and German-language professor Ruediger Mueller have received 2011 Teaching Excellence Awards from the University of Guelph's Central Student Association (CSA). History professor Jacqueline Murray received honourable mention.
